Thanks all for chiming in with suggestions of TVs to look at. And the web site was most helpful. Much appreciated.

We went back to Circuit City today. Got to compare the Sony KV35V68 (with Guide Plus) versus the Sony KV36XBR250 (no Guide Plus). Love the Guide Plus feature of the KV35V68 but decided to go with the KV36XBR250 because the picture quality is so much better. Wife was pretty adamant about getting the flat screen so I caved :(.

The sales guy was pretty knowledgeable. Says that by next year can get independent set top boxes with the Guide Plus feature.

While the wife was settling the bill, I got a chance do some more channel checking.

1 projection TV out of 8 has Guide Plus (a GE model)
4 35" or larger TV out of 11 has Guide Plus (yesterday I only saw 1)
For the smaller sizes, all Proscan I saw has Guide Plus. A few JVCs and Panasonic also.
No Guide Plus at the low end models.

By Guide Plus above I lump together Guide Plus, Guide Plus Gold, Guide 99. Does anyone know what the differences of these guides are?

Cheers,

Lucas
