ONE of the main accusations against those who know they are chosen is that they are carried away with their own importance... I get that a lot! Israel , as an elect nation, did just that and fell into unbelief. BTW Read this one...http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=12344228 You know that I am only a partial preterist. Paul and John the Baptist addressed the pride of those who believed that the election of Abraham and the promises made were enough to save them as "seeds": But the Bible reproved such thinking in this verse: Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. Seed in the Singular... in thy SEED shall the whole earth be blessed... they were not saved by thier Jewish blood ( I say this not just for you ) as it is written: John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And even as John said of their foolish belief that God needed them: Luke 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. So then it is plain that although God elected Israel not all of Israel is elect ( Individual ) Rahab was indeed saved being not a Jew in fact Jesus was nearly killed ( I speak as a man ) when He pointed out that God was choosing people other that Jews to have mercy upon throughout history: Luke 4:25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; 26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, God left a lot of Jews to die while He showed mercy opn gentiles even in the Old Testament. But Israel is still a "called" Nation and those thing which God has promised to it will be accomplished even under Christ. This is where I think "full preterism" is falling apart. Those whom God elects Shall be saved and none lost. God's elect Nation Shall be brought to obedience but without the pride we saw in the day of the Messiah. God caused Israel to stumble for our sakes... even as Paul has plainly said none of the Jews that He predestined to eternal life were lost in any of these plans and purposes but rather "All things work together for the good of the Elect of God " Romans 11:2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel , saying, 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. There always has been and always will be a "Remnant" according to the election of Grace ( individual ) The fact that God has Stumbled Israel as a nation and even gathered it together again after so long a time is nothing short of His hand. Does He then regather Israel to renew her as an enemy of the Gospel. NO , she is renewed because she is called to serve Christ as a Christian Nations after the fullness of the Gentile be brought in both Individual and as nations. We will not see the end of the world until all these promises are fulfilled in Christ ad King of Kings. Is it a surprise that we have enemies? Nay, the more foolish the charge the more assured should you be that you indeed suffer because you speak truth. 1 Peter 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 1 Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. I think some of the suffering is not always because of Christ but rather our manner and our giving into the temptations of retribution rather than letting others have the last word. They may speak evil against you and you have a right even as Jesus to a rebuttal however to contend with a fool is to your own hurt and we must learn to let the wicked wallow in his own mire. This is very hard when you see how unrighteous they can be but we have our example and we must look to Him. This is our challenge indeed our very life. Thank-you for your encouragement. I hope that we can grow together. It is for each other that we are here; not for the wicked and those who are not the called or chosen. We can but be kind to them and pray God give them the same gift He has given us even the spirit of repentance unto the acknowledging of His Word. Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Psalm2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Jesus is laughing from heaven at the foolishness of Nations that forget His Holy Law even now.
