Hi Christine

I have not read that SFGATE article about Wal-Mart and Starbucks but I have printed it out. You know how I am about reading things longer than 50 words!!

Well, he's not really my grandson. He's the son of my foster daughter. They are living with us. He has never seen his father, a story that happens much too frequently. She has not dated anybody since he was born, and probably never will again.

He is very cute, with blond hair and blue eyes. I take him with me to get lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The waitresses always say how cute he is, and spoil him. His favorite is to suck on a lemon slice for a few minutes, then eat about 4 pieces of bacon. Whatever.

He always wants to go to the county airport after eating. A couple of weeks ago we saw a Falcon jet being refueled, and started talking to the pilot. I told him that Brandon was real interested in airplanes, so the pilot invited him on board to see the inside, which was really plush. He gave Brandon some cookies from inside. I asked him how much the plane cost. He said 17 million, used 2 years. It belonged to a Mr. Goldsbury who sold Pace Picante Sauce last year for a billion something. Last Sunday when we arrived at the small terminal there were a couple of men who said they waiting for a plane to land. A few minutes later a Lear jet landed to pick them up, and they left. I found out later that he was the chairman of HEB, a large grocery chain in Texas. He is building a house nearby. I think that I told you once that we live in a pretty odd small town. There are now at least 4 billionaires that hang around here, in a town of 6,000.
