Over 80 years ago, Friendship Dairies was born in the small town of
Friendship, New York. Our founder started his dairy company producing
and selling an Old World style of fresh cheese called Farmer Cheese.
He would make the cheese all week long, and then bring it down with him
on the "railway" to sell it on the streets of "the city" on the weekend.

Friendship produces a complete line of "all natural" cultured dairy
products - Farmer Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Sour Cream, Buttermilk,
Hoop Cheese and Yogurt...

The dairy continues to receive all of its milk from over 200 independent
farmers within a 75 mile radius of the plant. The milk is fresh, and used
within hours of its arrival at the manufacturing facility.

Farmer cheese is an Old World style, fresh, pressed curd cheese made from
Cultured Pasteurized Grade A Skim Milk, Cream and Salt.

Hoop Cheese is the same product - except without the cream and the salt.

Both Friendship Farmer Cheese and Hoop Cheese are very low in lactose.

Approximately 15 years ago, many major manufacturers of cultured dairy
products made farmer cheese. The manufacturing process and the packaging
was labor intensive, a very costly process especially with the growing
use of automated technology. Yet, there was no guarantee that farmer
cheese could be automated without losing the taste and consistency that
makes it so appealing. For that reason, most companies stopped
manufacturing the product. Realizing that there was still a great demand
for the farmer cheese, Friendship invested in developing a package and
an effective packaging system that still delivered the same "homemade"
quality of farmer cheese.

Today, Friendship is the only major manufacturer of cultured dairy products
to make farmer cheese. The packaging the company developed has allowed them
to expand the distribution of farmer cheese as far away as the West Coast.
This same packaging technology is used for Friendship Hoop Cheese as well.

Hoop Cheese would be considered "Dry Curd" by.....
...for people with restricted diets who still crave dairy products
and cheese. ..."intestinal health experts" recommend Dry Curd Cheese
for those suffering from digestive conditions such as Crohn's Disease,
Colits, Diverticulitis and Celiac Disease.

of the aforementioned, or any other digestive ailment/ condition - we'd

stores around the country, we need to make people and retailers
