Digital Microwave Corporation Receives
$5 Million in New Orders in China

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Microwave
Corporation (Nasdaq: DMIC) today announced that it has
received orders valued at $5 million (US) from two companies
in the Peoples' Republic of China. China Unicom has awarded
the company $3.5 million in orders for the company's
Altium(TM) and Spectrum(TM) II radios, which will be used in
the expansion of GSM cellular networks in the Guangxi and
Hainan Provinces, both located near the South China Sea. The
second company, Hebei Great Wall Mobile Telecommunications
Company, has awarded a $1.5 million order to Digital
Microwave Corporation for SPECTRUM II radios, which will be
deployed in a CDMA cellular system located in China's
northern area. Under the terms of each contract, product
shipments are scheduled for completion by the end of December.

The orders were won in partnership with the Beijing Telecom
Equipment Factory, a major manufacturer of telecommunications
products and an official representative of Digital Microwave
Corporation within China. Beijing Telecom Equipment Factory
provides system integration, localized installation,
technical support and customer service for Digital Microwave
Corporation systems.

``Both China Unicom and Hebei Great Wall Mobile
Telecommunications are long-term customers since we began
business development in China in 1995,' said Charles D.
Kissner, chairman and chief executive officer of Digital
Microwave Corporation. ``Each of these contracts, however,
represents new business in new areas and in developing
technologies in China. We especially are pleased that our
expanding product line, including our high-capacity, 155 Mbps
Altium radio, is being used to expand China's communications
networks.'

Headquartered in San Jose, California, Digital Microwave
Corporation designs, manufactures and markets advanced
wireless solutions for worldwide telephone network
interconnection and access. Transmitting and receiving
multiple digital lines, Digital Microwave's high-performance
