With all the problems I've had with Gateway computers I wish I owned the stock so I could sell it. I recall about a year or so ago, someone around SI commented about troubles with Gateway computers and that maybe GTW was a stock to short. I have two generic boxes, one with an AMD chip, one with Cyrix inside. Never had any problems to speak of with either machine. As for other products, recall Judy and her problems with her GE refrigerator? In light of GE's performance in the past year, I don't think I'd be a seller just because of problems with one of their products.
