Hi folks,

I just spoke with someone at Inprise about interbase. Here is what they said:

1. A formal announcement probably on thursday.
2. IB 6 will not be released
3. They will honor all existing support contracts for up to version 5.6.
4. They will continue to sell licenses for version 5.6.
5. They are discussing (this week) whether to open source ib or not

I think open sourcing interbase will be the best option for IB right now. It seems that no one can realistically buy it and support it. If Borland does not open source it, it seems IB will not have any further development. I strongly encourage everyone to email dale fuller at inprise and encourage the open sourcing of IB

happy holidays
