G'day all - hi Ken, I hope that is only wishful thinking on the part of the author. Tracking stock has certain benefit [but it was not mention in the article] but it can be easily misappropriated. I trust NT mgt will be more thoughtful if and when such an instrument is deployed

best, B

Article in National Post says Nortel plans to issue tracking stock.

Does anyone have an idea for what part of NT's business would they issue a tracking stock. It does not seem clear in the article.
My suspicion is fibre optics due to the high valuations of other players in that industry. (or could it be internet related or possibly even be B2B) NT might want to capitalize on a high PE tracking stock in order to make some important acquisitions the way JDS Uniphase has been able to.
Interested in other people's opinions as i like the company but don't know too much of the various parts of their business.
This is one of my largest holdings.
