NiceGuy and Thread,

Apologies if this has been posted....I'm behind in my reading:

cpureview.com

a snip:

Athlon performance on scientific code

Hi Bill,

I follow your web site about 2-3 times a week, it is an excellent site I thank you very much for your effort.

I thought you might like the result of some scientific benchmarks for the AMD-K7. I think it is an excellent performer under Linux.

[see chart]

[Editor: the "g98" result is extremely impressive; the Athlon 600 was 2.38x faster than the P3 500. The other tests did not show as conclusive an improvement, Mol/min provided a 1.26x advantage for the K7, and Mol/dyn only showed a 1.14x advantage. We should note that the K7 had a 20% clock speed advantage over the P3; and while a P3 600 would not provide a 20% faster time (10% is more likely) only the "g98" test shows an overwhelming speed advantage.]

On 10/12/99 I received my "Axis Systems" computer.
I ordered it loaded with the latest Athlon 650 CPU. and 128MB of ram, etc..

From day one it did not work. All sorts of problems kept coming up.

Their tech support first sent me a new viedo card

and two days later decided I needed a new mother-

board, power supply, memory simm, (replaced only

one of the two 128MB simms) and modem.

After installing all of the above nothing changed.

I told them I want to return this system to them

for a refund. All of a sudden they stopped talking

to me. They have not responded to one of my many

e-mails to various departments.

I have contacted my VISA card, Califorina's Atty.

General and the FTC on this matter. Maybe they

can get me the return number needed from Axis so

I can return this junk.

I am told the "MSI" motherboard in this unit is not realible with the Athlon 650.

Can anyone second this opinion?

Can anyone tell me how to get Axis to respond?

I need a new computer but need this one returned

first.
