I was reading the book about King Leopold because I've been reading up on the history of slavery. It's superior to "Heart of Darkness" for that purpose, as it uses original sources for documentation. Slavery intrigues me, much as Nazi Germany intrigues me, because it's an example of "man's inhumanity to man" on such a large scale that it was socially acceptable, even thought of as inevitable. Some even believed that it was God's will.

Christ was very clear in his message. "What you do to the least of these, you do to me." Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, minister to the sick, befriend the cheerless. Snapping and snarling at each other about who best exemplifies the spirit of Christmas is not what he had in mind, IMO.
