New Hampshire Technology Leaders Join Forces to Launch Interactive Web Site for Millennium's First Presidential Debates

DURHAM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 1999--

New Interactive Forum Combines Live Webcast with Real-Time Polling -

Provides Glimpse of Future Cybervoting Capabilities

New Hampshire's leading technology companies today announced they have teamed to launch an interactive web site that will combine the live broadcast of the new millennium's first presidential debates with real-time polling. The new site, www.wiredvote.com, will allow a global audience to view and respond to the Democratic and Republican debates airing on January 5 and 6, 2000. Produced by New Hampshire Public Television (NHPTV) in partnership with New England Cable News (NECN) and the Union Leader, the debates will be simulcast on NHPTV, NECN, C-SPAN, MSNBC, New Hampshire Public Radio, and numerous and PBS stations nationwide.

Cabletron Systems, Vitts Networks, The Dupont Group and PrimaryDiner.com will join lead underwriter Aprisma Management Technologies in launching the new webcast/polling site--www.wiredvote.com. The site will leverage technologies from these leading companies to bring the debates to a new level of public participation. In real-time, E-voters will be able to express their reactions to the candidates as well as view reactions from fellow participants.

"New Hampshire is on the cutting edge of the new high-technology economy, with the highest concentration of high-tech workers in the nation. I am pleased that Aprisma, Cabletron and Vitts Networks have chosen to build their businesses here in New Hampshire," said Governor Jeanne Shaheen. "I am also pleased that these companies are demonstrating a commitment to our state and its residents by sponsoring debates in our first-in-the-nation primary which will give voters an opportunity to learn more about the candidates."

"By broadcasting the debates over the web and incorporating real-time feedback, we bring the debates to an audience of unprecedented size and influence. In addition, the site provides a voice for people who may not have had the opportunity to participate in a traditional televised debate," said Darren Orzechowski, Aprisma's vice president of marketing.

Wiredvote.com, a new Sirius Media LLC property, will serve as the "portal" for the interactive web site, providing content and polling capabilities for viewers. Several New Hampshire technology leaders have teamed to make this site possible. They include:
