Zee Network appoints Anthony D'Silva as president zeetelevision.com Sibabrata Das (FE) MUMBAI, DECEMBER 20: As part of its restructuring operations, Zee Network has appointed Anthony D'Silva as president, distribution. He will be looking after SitiCable and direct-to-operations business of the network. D'Silva was serving as the chief executive officer of Modi Entertainment Network which handled the distribution for the Star-ESPN operations in the country. RK Singh, who joined Zee as the chief executive officer and is in charge of the pay-TV business, was earlier heading ESPN-Star Sports. D'Silva is expected to provide thrust to Zee's direct-to-operator operations which is up for launch early next year. In a parallel development, an internal company circular said the chief executive officers of Zee Network and its subsidiary companies should report to Vijay Jindal for their respective businesses and performances at the corporate level. This is in contrast to the speculation that Jindal had been sidelined inside the company. He has been promoted as vice-chairman of Zee Network. Besides being in charge of E-Connect, Zee Network's Bangalore-based Internet venture, Jindal will continue to head the sports business. Jindal would head E-Connect till "such time either the present chief operating officer rises to the level of chief executive officer" or a CEO is appointed. Jindal will have to put in place a formal reporting arrangement and MIS system so that the businesses of the network and subsidiary companies continue to move forward with greater thrust. "Zee Network chairman Subhash Chandra and Jindal would be functioning from a different location at the corporate level," the circular said. Jindal has been asked to take policy and strategy meetings at pre-fixed intervals with the respective chief executive officers and chief operating officers. He will make a monthly report to keep Chandra apprised of the health and standing of the business, the circular said.
