Chilly, it's kind of hard to follow when they start throwing these numbers around - are they talking about GuidePlus+ in TVs, or set top boxes, or both? Are they talking just about cable, or also satellite? Are they talking only about the US?

Even so, I think they were a bit loose with the language. Nothing I have read specifically mentions an expectation for there to be 40 million users in 2000. After all, that's 40% of all US households - it's unlikely for any technology to be adopted that rapidly. For example, according to the Stephens report: ...Next Century Media projects that the number of digital cable households will grow from 8.3 million in 2000 to 62.3 million by 2009. So, I think it will take some time.

I agree with your thoughts on the advertising revenue margins.
