Online Disclosure Still Falling Short

New York (Dec. 14, 1999)?As jewelry Web sites keep springing up online, the Federal Trade Commission is still uncovering online retailers that are not following federal guidelines on disclosure.
Early last year, the FTC announced that it had done a check of 100 Web sites advertising and selling jewelry. The results? Many companies were not complying with disclosure requirements for cultured pearls, colored gemstone treatments or diamond weights.
And the problem continued through the year, industry watchdogs said.
"We are doing a follow-up on that surf. For the jewelry surf in particular we found that it was going to be necessary," Laura DeMartino, an attorney with the FTC, told National Jeweler. "As we do generally, we saw sites that may need some extra attention."
The FTC check last year found that many retailers and auction sites were not following the FTC's Guides for the Jewelry Industry. Online retailers were not disclosing gemstone treatments, were neglecting to call pearls "cultured" or "imitation" and were misrepresenting diamond carat weights.

Lizzie,

Commerce One (CMRC) & its customers are just one of the ITRA customers. They have several other deals with Computer Associates, Hewlett Packard, Macromedia, Novell, Siebel and Interwoven (one to follow). There will be tremendous potential as more sophisticated B2B softwares needs to be installed on clients.

cmrc is only one of itra's customers. iwov and 4 others are to be announced in a month. itra's market cap is 1/8 cmrc's. I'm not saying it's a cmrc, just that there's still great upside for itra. Especially if the ceo's suggestion re: 2B revenues in a couple years bears any fruit....
