If you really think about it, AOL access is free. Since the content they offer more than makes up for the monthly access fees. I tried this free ISP for a month and gave up. You cannot get a connection made in the first three attempts and then the connection terminates randomly. Not too mention the unlimited amount of cookies that are sent across the wire to spy on my online activities.

I prefer AOL to any free ISP anyday.

High speed access costs will most likely create a net loss, but a worthwhile loss, allowing AOL access to the users with higher disposable income and who spend 10 times as much time online. Thus generating increased revenues, not from the sub revenue, but from the users shopping and surfing.
