Ensemble Communications Secures $25 Million for Commercial
Launch of Its Fiberless Broadband Wireless System

Digital Microwave Corporation, Intel and Korea Telecom Bank
Join Existing Investors In Company's Third Financing Round

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 22, 1999-- Ensemble
Communications Inc., a supplier of next-generation broadband
wireless access (BWA) equipment, today announced the closing
of a $25 million round of venture financing and the addition
of three new investors. Proceeds from the round will be used
to increase staff, facilities and marketing efforts toward
the commercial launch of Ensemble's innovative Fiberless(TM)
system in the second quarter of 2000.

New investors in the company's third round of financing
include Digital Microwave Corporation, (Nasdaq: DMIC) a
global supplier of microwave radio equipment, which led the
round; Intel Corporation; and Korea Telecom Bank Venture
Capital, whose leading investors include Samsung Corporation
and Korea Telecom. All existing Ensemble investors --
Enterprise Partners, Institutional Venture Partners, Trinity
Ventures, Crescendo Ventures and ADC Telecommunications --
also contributed additional capital.

"Given the participation of both new investors and existing
ones, this financing is a further step in helping to propel
the company forward," said Tom Jones, chairman of the board
of Ensemble. "The company is now fulfilling its vision of
producing a system especially designed for packet networks
that also supports legacy telco applications cost effectively."

Rami Hadar, chief executive officer of Ensemble, added, "With
the help of these funds and our ongoing field trials, we're
now capable of launching and supporting widespread deployments
of our Fiberless product to give carriers the competitive
edge they seek in providing broadband services to users."

Currently in trials with selected service provider customers,
the Fiberless system is fueled by Ensemble's patented
Adaptix(TM) technology consisting of Adaptive TDD, Adaptive
TDMA and Adaptive Modulation. With these innovations,
Fiberless delivers some of the most advanced point-to-
multipoint features in the industry in a single, flexible
platform.

Not limited by legacy approaches or technologies, the
Fiberless system--consisting of the Fiberless 16000 Base
Station, Fiberless 300 Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and
the Fiberless Management System (FMS) -- has been engineered
from the ground up to help solve the unique challenges of the
BWA market. A global platform, Fiberless is designed to serve
BWA carriers with frequency licenses ranging from 10 to
43.5 GHz, and to seamlessly interconnect with IP, ATM, and
TDM backhaul architectures.

Ensemble Communications, the Fiberless(TM) Access company,
designs, manufactures and markets point-to-multipoint
wireless systems for Local Multipoint Distribution Services
(LMDS) and other BWA markets worldwide. Headquartered in San
Diego, with an additional R&D facility in Tel Aviv, Israel,
the company is led by industry veterans with proven successes
designing and deploying wireless, telecom and datacom
systems. Ensemble offers its market-leading products through
OEM partners and directly to BWA carriers worldwide.

Incorporating its Adaptix(TM) technology, the Ensemble
Fiberless system is designed to contain the most advanced
features in the BWA market, capable of extending fiber cost
effectively to deliver broadband services including both
traditional telecom services and market-leading,
differentiated offerings such as instantaneous asymmetry and
bandwidth-on-demand services, Virtual Private Networks and
Voice over IP.

Interview dated 12/23/99 with several money managers.

Lee Kopp, manager of the Kopp Emerging Growth Fund (KOPPX),
presents DMIC as one of his top two pick for the millennium
saying: "It's in the wireless area and could be a sterling
performer in calendar year 2000." Later in the article,
Kopp says (about the overall market): "I think we'll have an
exciting first quarter on the upside, probably some pullback
shortly thereafter and, on balance, a good year overall."

Kopp has followed DMIC and been one of its leading investors
for many years. I first learned about DMIC (many years ago)
through an article in Business Week which said how well his
fund was doing... the article listed many stocks Kopp held,
all of which were up (at the time of the article) except
DMIC. After doing some further research, I decided that DMIC
would also go up and bought some... sure enough, DMIC was my
first big gainer and I managed to trade it for a nice profit
twice. I took the money from those trades and bought my Mom a
house near the beach! Now its a few years later... I've built
a much larger position in DMIC... and the money I make on
this round may well enable me to retire.
