COGNICASE Announces Creation of COGNICASE INTERNET
TECHNOLOGIES(CIT)

JANUARY 5, 2000
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA--COGNICASE Inc. (Nasdaq: "COGI")
announced today the formation of COGNICASE INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES
(CIT), a new business unit with a mission to accelerate the
creation and development of leading edge software solutions using
the latest technologies such as Internet Protocol, cellular and other media.
"The establishment of COGNICASE INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES (CIT) is
consistent with our business strategy to create IP-based leading
edge solutions. By capitalizing on our reverse engineering tools
and our search engines which are based on rules and fuzzy logic,
we are in a position to offer innovative e-business solutions,"
stated Ronald Brisebois, President and Chief Executive Officer of COGNICASE.
CIT brings together all of COGNICASE's software assets related to
the Internet and artificial intelligence. This software is the
result of several years of R&D effort and provides the company
with a flexible and robust technology base. The CIT team will be
headed by Normand Theberge, Chief Internet Technologies. /T/
The following are among the software products being developed by CIT:
* CogniWeb V3.5 (NatWeb) consolidates COGNICASE's tools for the
creation of Internet, information and transaction sites. It allows
for the rapid development of robust, high-performance Internet
sites using leading edge technologies such as XML, JAVA 2 and
SGBDR. CogniWeb employs Object Orientation (OO) on technology
platforms which support NT, Unix and Linux (available in May 2000),
among others.
* CogniAnalyzer V2.0 is a management tool for companies that operate
active e-commerce sites. It collects static and dynamic
information on site utilization by virtual customers. Data is
analyzed for the production of reports and graphics on the
behaviour of Web surfers as well as the performance and robustness
of e-commerce sites.
* CogniTell V1.6 is used for the conversion of communication
protocols as a well as for the translation of messages to enable
electronic communication with existing applications. In this way,
multi-interface services can be offered providing access to
information at any time regardless of location or the technology being used.
The next version CogniTell V2.0 (available in June 2000), will
allow for personal requests to be made on various networks,
including the Internet, with specific rules for each user such as
Web surfers. The results of these requests may be forwarded to the
user through the Internet, cellular or any other electronic media,
according to personal or business needs./T/
