COMMUNICATION, speed, system -- machine language (can't be beat for some tasks) Fatal error. This is true in the sense that we put together a better BBS than those done in 'C' by going the string handling joe six-pack QuickBASIC route with a (REXX type) script language but gave all the heavy serial lifting to assembler. HOWEVER, as it turns out this communication thing is all about UNIX servives and Unix is all about portability. Portability cannot be overstated. -JCJ Edit: Also, the database core we put together with QuickBASIC code BBS may not have been as zippy as 'C' but it was way more ascended for configurability and ultimately more functional.
