Re Dell 50:
I can live very well with Dell at any level above 43
Have been trying to understand what Kemble has been telling us all along. Dells future.
In 5 years many more retirees with much more income and
better savings. In IRA's, teachers pension funds, 401 K's
Discussions on the Web will encourage people to seek
adventure and profits by doing their own investing and
help gain control of those locked-up funds now at low returns.
To start with, they won't want to gamble much with life savings
but Dells solid performance (even if only 30%/yr) could be justified
investment.
So just double the number of investors, who will want to
own twice as many shares each in 5 years( I know I would)
and there will soon be a shortage of shares despite the present 2.5 bil in circulation.
Price will follow demand.
Sig

My portfolio has done exceedingly well lately-better than the Monkeydex. Roughly in order of value
Qcom Dell Jdsu Aol Yhoo Plcm vrts rhat sunw
Plus another ten stocks
Comments
Qcom. I got on board when you first mentioned this. Solid
short term right through the split and perhaps for another year . After that its touch and go between Dell and Q as a long term.
Dell. First got in Dell in 1993. Appreciate all the encouragement
of those on the thread, esp Chuzz, Kemble,Pat, Drew to hold
on this year. Forced to lighten up in the spring, but its my bread and butter- am still picking up leaps and a few calls-Feb and May
Jdsu. Lee talked me into holding this one
Vrts. Bought for the split and held it after. A major software company that is well regarded. Looks pretty good.
Aol . Bought for the split and because of the monstrous
trades shown on the calls. Think it will continue up now
and will continue to look for clues in the option action.
Yhoo. My own favorite over the years. Got back in when it crossed
200, playing it for the split. Now with all the deals
worldwide the news alone may keep moving it. Split has to come
soon and will be welcome. Hold after split??? Need a decision later
Plcm. Mentioned by Donnie last fall when $9. Now about 50
after backing off a bit. Sold 1/2 yesterday
Sunw. Bought for the split. Sold part
Rhat. ? Uncertain on this one so sold 1/2 yesterday and will hold rest for the split
Nvls. Got on board as soon as 3/1 split was announced.
doing nicely
Geek. My local ISP . Bought some at 13 on news, a sentimental bet
If it drops below 11 will sell it.
Summary :
Overall its going to be damn hard to lose for anyone reading
the Dell thread. Qcom thread has gone ape, having lots of fun.
and rightfully so. But being too gung-ho on only one stock
creates a problem of perhaps missing other boomers.
One interesting point is that these are mostly well known
stocks with a history of income and performance and not the pure speculative types and thus may meet Chuzz's qualifications
( excepting for yhoo P/E( hehe)
But I will stack them up against that Monkeys selections
(MDEX) any day of the week)
Regards
Well holy toledo and gosh all fishhooks, the NAS is up again
by 1200?

greg...dell at 50ish

dell is now in an initial overbought position, may see topping, can move to 52, if on less then average volume will give probability to trade down to the 48 range. appears to be attempting to establish a new trading range of 44-52. time will tell and news good or bad will alter range.

aren't you one of those "greater fools" <vbg> who chased qcom from the 100's to 500 in the last three months, or bought those absurd values as brcm and jdsu, or even a csco or sunw....??? you should have bought value such as dell....you would be able to sleep better instead of staying up all night and worrying about what you could do with your "foolish" profits....

good luck from another "fool"
