It will be a while before ALSC becomes a momentum stock (if it ever does!). Its price appreciation will peak some time in year 2002 (assuming the chip semi expansion goes till 2003. Merrill Lynch few weeks ago was talking about a 3 to 5 year expansion of the business!). By then UMC, BRCM values would have doubled and ALSC would be worth at least $ 60 in 2002 prices. Assuming that it does well in the chip business by then, and a few of its seeded startups take off like Maverick networks, there is a good chance the stock will split. So it is better to hang on for the next two years with ALSC!
