Linux schminux .... first casualty????

OTTAWA (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Corel, which had risen sixfold in a five-week period bridging November and December -- fell 25 percent Wednesday after the company warned of an upcoming loss in its fiscal fourth quarter.

The stock (CORL) was down 4 5/8 to 13 15/16 in recent trading.

Almost all of Corel's meteoric stock gains in the past two months can be attributed to market excitement over the company's ties to the snowballing Linux operating system movement.

Yet some investors clamoring for companies associated with Linux forgot – or ignored – Corel's spotty track record over the past few years, CBS.MarketWatch.com reported earlier this month. See full story. Corel has suffered periods of heavy losses since the company acquired WordPerfect in 1996. The company's chief executive is under investigation for insider trading and faces a yet-to-be-settled shareholder class action suit. Analysts complain that the company set expectations for earnings and product announcements, then didn't deliver.

MikeBo

"time to look at COOL"

I don't think so:http://timely.com/t/timely5html?fc=25&le=2&lg=2&fd=1&fb=cool&fa=cool&fe=61&fh=1&fg=2&ff=3&fi=2&fj=200&fk=2&fl=50&fm=3&fn=13&fo=1&fp=50&fq=0&zz=SEND

This one of the most horrible chart I've seen in a long time. Note all of the MA cross overs to the down side. Support is at 8ish. It looks like the short seller own this one Mike. Even the news of rising visits in Nov. did not help the stock.

You still own VARL...WOW!
