I've experienced the sort of behaviour you machine exhibits and a re-boot fixes it. May not help you, but it works for me.

Cheers, PW.

Robert, I can't help, but had similar behavior: sometimes
with several IE5.1 windows open I click on a button [like
FILE] and it does not depress, no pulldown window appears.
If I switch windows it works again. I just live with this
and have not tried any remedy.

If you use IE, there is a MS IE repair tool under
MS System Information>TOOLS.

Gottfried

hey bob,

been reading with interest about your 'delayed response' prob. i thought of this immediately and wanted to mention it, then quickly figured, "nah, he did that". but let me ask anyway just to get it out of the way...

did you try taking the nics out and either reseating them or switching them around or putting them in new slots?

did you get each machine up and running independently after installing the cards, then network them?

and are you using a crossover cable?

:)
