Ken, i have no doubt that after this year's advertising spree about 50% of the dotcoms will be well on their way to the bankruptcy courts in the first half of 2000. the rest will follow in due course. of course some of the co's we know of today, like YHOO will continue to exist, but at different p/e multiples than today. i also expect net advertising rates to continue to plunge as it becomes clear how utterly ineffective this type of advertising is. since the day still has only 24 hours, i expect net usage growth to slow down as well.
apart from all this, "investors" will probably come to realize that for all it's wonders, the web is not a place where it is easy to make money beyond IPO proceeds.
