I called Ancor investor relations and left message with SUN 3500fc inclusion question. IR message indicated they would reply... sorry, no real people this morning. Looking forward to reply.

Cheers to all for a very merry Christmas...

My take on the StorEdge 3500fc announcement:

It is a RAID controller disk system, similar to several others with an FC interface. This allows the system to be attached to a server or servers through an FC adapter, hub, or switch. The StorEdge A5X00 system - is a JBOD set up that contains multiple disk subsystems that are currently aggregated around 7 port FC hubs. My understanding is that these hubs can be replaced by Ancor switches.

This is all that can be currently confirmed on Sun's web site. Sun's web site also gives the impression that Ancor is "developing and qualifying a FC fabric switch for Sun Microsystems StorEdge product line.":

I have an e-mail into Sun regarding switches and their announcement yesterday, but expect them to confirm what I have posted above.

I would appreciate the opinion of any engineers working with the actual systems. If you have anything to add-feel free to e-mail me at dawso007@ieee.org or post it here.
