Charles,

Those same countries might look at the computing situation in the U.S. and
conclude they'd be better off skipping the "PC" era and going straight to the the next level -- network-centric computing, in
which companies like IBM and Sun have an edge.


I doubt that a country like India, without the history or infrastructure of the computing industry that this country has, would even look at something unproven like that. No way they could afford to "bring up" such a model, with all the inherent stumbles and problem reports along the way.

Hey, I've delivered and supported Wintel PCs to that exact country for software development. They didn't ask for any Suns.
