Re: Actuate, good question. XML is of vital importance to many companies, it's just a question of exactly what a pure-play XML company is (which is tricky since no one can really own a markup language, but many product/services lines will benefit from its rapid adoption and concomitant increases in productivity).

Actuate is not a company I've followed, but I've always lumped it in with other companies like InfoData (INFD), FileNet (FILE), and Documentum (DCTM). Clearly XML will be an integral part of their business going forward, but their core focus still appears to be electronic document publishing and collaboration tools within the enterprise.

Whereas an EAI like Bluestone Software (BLSW, which I hold) is developing e-commerce applications like the Sapphire Suite and aggressively incorporating XML into their software development, including their XML suite. My longtime favorite, webmethods, will leverage XML moreso than the companies listed above when it comes to procurement and communication between partners in a supply chain, and that's where the really big money lies, my friend.

P.S. I see no one's taken the ticker XML yet! That won't last for long, having LNUX for a ticker certainly helped one recent IPO.

No mention of ACTU as an XML stock. Is this because they focus more on reports versus commerce
transactions?
