JDSU sells to all the fiber optic network guys. If they bought CIEN then they may lose marketshare if the competitors stop buying components. It may be a very smart move in the long run in my opinion. With the stock value where its at, JDSU could buy CIEN without any dilution and be able to vertically integrate and pick up direct sales to the end user. Sales to OEMs do not have long lifetimes as the OEMs tend to spend a lot of effort replacing OEM suppliers with inhouse designs or alternative suppliers.
