Check the Dec 4-10 issue of The Economist.

Small market caps and great buying interest usually combine to make explosive moves.

I don't see it as sector rotation per se. Instead, there is an increased interest in mapping as evidenced by the NY Times article Dec. 20th (and The Economist article).

Also note the announced deal between AHP and Genome Therapeutics for gene-based research targeting osteoporosis.

If the biotech craze of the early nineties is any guide, this interest can last awhile as valuations get a tad wild.

That being said, genomics is a hot field.

Mike, I have been scaling back most of my biotechs. I think a lot of the ones I have owned and that have done so well is simply because of Wall Street's new discovery: If you get a bunch of money chasing a single digit stock price, it can double or triple or quadruple quickly. My guess is that as soon as they run out of single digit biotechs that do not make them lose their lunch, they will be looking in other areas. Hey, maybe Picturetel will be getting a ride soon. <g>

So, I hold very few today compared to what I held 3 months ago.

I love the sector longer term, but believe I will be able to buy back in at cheaper prices. However, I make sure to hold on to HQH, as it has not appreciated nearly as much as its underlying assets. The discount has widened and it still looks fairly priced.

I like Gizmo, but I already owned GZTC and GZTR (since it was Genzl) when Gizmo came public. I have pared back my GZTC holdings and may take a closer look at its sibling now.

Happy Holidays to you, too.
