The company named John Connors to replace Maffei, effective January 7. ????

i actually think the traditional brokers have a lot more to fear due to their derivatives exposure. sure, customers defaulting on margin calls isn't good for business either, but sitting on several trillions of dollars of notional value in derivatives is far more dangerous when the bubble implodes.

Mohan: 1987 was a picnic compared to what this thing will look like when it lets go. In 1987, many firms actually thought they WERE bankrupt. Greenspan told them to get back on the phones (which were all taken off the hook) and that he would supply the liquidity. All of this is in the public record. Best, Earlie
