In KYO's favor, I would also like to point out there are two main forces behind the W-CDMA(or anti-CDMA2000) camp. NTT DoCoMo and the Europeans. This deal should pretty much put KYO and the soon-to-be-merged #2 and #3 cell providers in Japan in the drivers seat. I say DoCoMo is Toast.

I think you make an excellent point here. Even though Q gets the same money whether DCMA or W-CDMA is used, I think 3G rollouts will go smoother and faster if W-CDMA is put to rest once and for all.
