<<What better than to sell it to a Japanese company willing to squeeze every other phone maker like crazy? This is wonderful.>>
Eugene you are right! I am now looking at this in whole new light. it's amazing what positive thinking does.
here are my thoughts
1. nok doesn't have a full line of cdma phones. in fact i believe they only have one and it doesn't work well.
2. kyocera has a full line of new models that dr j said they will be rolling out shortly in the U.S. so now we have Q's line and the new kyocera line. nok is going to be left in the dust here.
3. i think it's not so much asia that dr j is thinking about but rather total domination of the U.S., with a
best of show line up of phones, who are new subs going to run to. thats right CDMA.
4. with nok we would have gained nothing. one tiny fact i overlooked. what good are phones in europe without any cdma infrastructure in place.
who in europe is going to buy a cdma phone.
5. once the infrastructure is in place the phones will sell with or without nok.

feeling much much better.

Post of the evening! Squeeze=competition; competition to the existing 3 phone manufacturers was probably what Dr. J intended with this deal. If Kyocera produces a terrific product, CDMA-based, that will force the big 3 to come to the realization that they need the Q's technology much more so.

Greatness of each deal depends on the details.
