Well, for one thing, other phone manufacturers will no longer see them as a competitor and may be more willing to buy chips from them, as well as pay for consulting assistance in getting new products to work quickly.

Oops...I missed the obvious advantage.

It's not a terrible deal but it isnt the gangbuster deal that kept getting hinted at by the analysts. This wouldnt matter if Qualcomm was still at 300 but at 500 it seems like the Street might have been discounting a deal with either Nokia or Mot....of course if Voltaire is right the run was really only about the split.

I guess I might have just got my hopes raised....the various names that have been thrown out like IBM, Nok and Mot seemed like great deals that would have significantly lessed the execution risk associated with the Q. The next big thing Qualcomm needs is to start seeing a slowdown in Nokia's growth rate which would put pressure on them to use Q's chips.
