Going back to the Bell Atlantic announcement. I picked this up from the Yahoo board. Agree or disagree with this view of the annoucement and effect on TLAB? Mike You're right Bell Atl. is great news by: oldtelcoguy 12/22/1999 2:00 pm EST Msg: 11237 of 11252 Bell Atlantic is one of Tellabs biggest customers and now that they can offer long-distance in NY, BA will build out and interconnect all their end offices with bigger optical pipes. This means more TITANs! I remember when I was consulting for one of the other RBOCs, and they were trying to estimate the cost of getting into long distance. The expenses came to 5 times their transport equipment budget to build out the long distance network. So instead of spending X they needed to spend 6X that year to additionally build out long distance capability. Of course that was their whole territory but New York is still a really good start.
