Bill: Concur. It was said by many who had see him in conferences and analysts's meetings that he appeared to be in a funk. I think Maffei was upset that he had not received a higher position in the last reorg. at MSFT. I am sorry that he took such a big fish in a small pond job. He would have been better waiting for a better deal or getting a bigger job at MSFT. Nothing too spectacular ever rose up out of Vancouver. I forget who Maffei replaced but when that occurred everyone was nervous then saying that although qualified he had big shoes to fill. As for being a deal maker I am sure that is what bothered Maffei - he did not have enough clout in the deal making final word- he was just a super bean counter. Thisis not a big loss. MSFT is brimming with ambitious talent waiting for a chance to show its ability. JFD
