But how many would quit if we paid them $1?

(Hint: NONE!)

Well there are all kinds of lobbyists. Some represent causes that I support. So I want them to have access to Congressmen and Senators so they can push by ideas. Otherwise why would I give money to the organization. If the salary was $1 mil there would be so many candidates the vote would be diluted with the party favorites (who have the money) still out front. George Washington warned us of the dangers of affiliations with parties, but we have fallen right into it. Now if parties were banned and everyone ran as an independent then we may be on the right track. But the corporate money would still want to buy the front runners. So what then? Ban non-individuals from contributing to campaigns. So we need campaign finance reform, which Washington has talked about for a decade but has never touched. Looks like a dog chasing it's tail to me!
