elmer, re:<I am long term bearish on AMD but short term neutral>
After reading this, I really think you should try something more conservative and less bullish, like selling out of money call and buying very-out-of-money call.

If you are long term bearish you gotta realize that when AMD falls it will halve its price in one month.

I don't agree with your outlook, but thats another story.

Maybe you really are not long term bearish? After all, don't you think Motorola withheld investing in Dresden last summer because they thought they might be able to pick up all of AMD "on the cheap" if the Athlon failed. IBM same story. Now they've both kicked themselves, and both know that AMD will survive and both would be ready and willing to buy the company if it drops near book value.

If AMD sells the comm business, book value will probably be north of $20 again, so, I think at worst AMD is long term neutral even if their execution totally falls apart.

So, either revise your long-term-bear opinion or revise your strategy. With a volatile stock like AMD, the two are not consistant.
