hi bob,

my thinking on getting each machine up and running after installing each nic is just to keep everything sequential and thus easier to troubleshoot.

rather than introduce three new items (2 nics and a crossover cable) simultaneously, i would have taken it step by step and observed the system's performance after each new addition. it seems easier to troubleshoot that way. if i make three changes and something screws up, i'm not real sure which change may have caused the screw up. (of course this is why everything takes me so darn long... plodding along at turtle pace.)

perhaps opening the boxes this weekend and checking out the cards will produce good results. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, that's for sure.

:)
