I too agree that the Asians will be very tough competition for the Scandinavians and even though Northern Europe is way ahead at the start, my money is on the Asians. They will push high speed data very hard, will keep prices low and quality high and can innovate new features better than anyone.

NOK is far from out of it, and they have been very smart and worked very hard for their towering position atop the cell phone market, but very few leaders in one technology stay the leader as a newer technology takes over. Clayton Christensen's book The Innovator's Dilemma is a tour de force explanation of why, but the short answer is that the previous winners are too busy keeping their big customers happy and the new market is to small and not profitable enough. This transition to 3G is a classic case and I highly recommend his book for anyone who hasn't already read it (it's been recommended many times on this and the other thread).
