NOK have three choices

1. Go with LSI or INTC/DSP
LSI chip is the only current alternative to QCOM
However, the stack software was supplied by ISOTEL, now part of INTC/DSP. This will be a big problem for LSI when they attempt to migrate to 3G and data standards. Where the INTC program is is hard to say. DSP have made
announcements but a product hasn't appeared

2. Go with QCOM
The QCOM ASIC has a reputation for being difficult to work with.
With the R&D portion of QCP working exclusively for KYO, how will QCOM support additional customers?

QCOM will need to address this quickly, if they are to expand sales in Asia.

3. Go with their own chip
Losing out to KYO, NOK may well be forced down this route.
I'm sure they can pick up a few ex QCP chaps who don't relish working for a Japanese company.
