Ain't that the truth. The first stock I picked after I started actively trading went up something like 300% in 3 days. Worst thing that could have happened to me because it swelled my head faster than a snoutful of helium.

Over the next 6 months I lost all the gains and it wasn't until I realized I was getting whooped by the lowly S&P index that I thought maybe I should stop looking for lottery tickets and start trying to learn what the hell I was doing.

I think I've learned a great deal, but with the experience of losing under my belt that knowledge doesn't swell my head, it makes me realize how much more I still have left to learn.
