Hi Jill:

One thing that many people forget is the outlook for the future of cell phones. While the current topis centers around HDR, CDMA/GSM, etc, I would not be surprised that there is a department within QCOM who is working beyond that research:

Cell phones to replace credit cards.

This is already happening in Finland: a person uses his phone like a TV remote to purchase soda from a vending machine: aim, press some numbers, and a can of soda is dispensed. His phone bill will contain this purchase.

Why is it happening in Europe and not in the US? The answer is standard. Europe uses one standard GSM, and the technology is built thus around it. When CDMA clearly becomes the dominant technology in the US, then hardware and software to allow for transactions using phone will be developed. The potential is huge.

Maybe it would be a tribute to Q of James Bond: may he rest in peace.

Paul

Jill - I also will be shorting the puts on any dips - these premiums are just too good to pass up ! (I have been doing it all along as the stock went from 400 to 500 - shorting then buying 'em back). Nice profits !

Cheers !
