Talk to any Internet executive in Europe these days and they'll tell you their biggest challenge is hiring and keeping talented, experienced people.
So it's no surprise that some high-level poaching's going on. Britain's largest Internet service provider, Nasdaq-listed Freeserve PLC (FREE: news, msgs), said Thursday it's nabbed Frank Keeling, currently senior vice president and director of AOL Europe, to serve as its chief operating officer.

Keeling has spent the last four years helping to set up AOL Europe, which is a joint venture between America Online Inc. and Germany's Bertelsmann AG. "He brings with him a wealth of operational experience in the Internet market and will bring enormous expertise and strategic focus to an essential position for Freeserve," said John Pluthero, Freeserve's chief executive.

Current Freeserve chief operating officer Mark Danby is taking a job at a new Internet investment firm that Freeserve said it intends to invest in, but which it won't yet name. Danby will also become non-executive director of Freeserve.<<
