Having spent the last 11 years as a shareholder, I have watched with great interest the vicissitudes of Xicor's fortunes. This rise of share price is certainly welcomed. Yet an indisputable fact remains: Xicor has surrendered its position as non-volatile leader to upstarts like Atmel, Microchip and others. Ralphie has offered us excuses and poorly implemented strategies like the Oak dsp screwup and deflated WIP inventories. His missteps certainly cannot be attributed to growing pains. The success of a public company is the responsibility of the CEO and the board of directors. So what has changed?
Besides shoring up the financials, bringing an operations guy on board and the write-off of their 6-inch production line, where is the foundation for technological or market leadership?
Which regrettably leads me to the statement: A rising tide lifts all boats.
