Imo, Mike's being responsible by not declaring the Gem a Gorilla since he knows how many people are influenced by his analyses.

I agree uf. He and Teflon have also made some interesting Godzilla observations concerning the advertising and B2C business. It is difficult to classify Gemstar as a pure Gorilla or a pure Godzilla because of its unique technology and business model. It has the best of both worlds IMO .... but for the time being remains unclassified.

FWIW, if you look back to the old SI GMSTF thread you will see that Paul M and Andrew C are also long holders.

Regards
Stew

Here we go again... doubled up on this baby this morning. Interesting comment by Joe Kernan (I think that is who it was) this morning on CNBC, when he highlighted GMST as one of the stocks to watch today. He did not say anything about its technicals, but said how much he loves his VCR+ gadget and how useful it is. That said it all, as far as mass adoption.

Hi UF and All,

I am new to GMST. While doing my DD, I came across what yahoo research page that states GMST earnings for next year to be 10.42.
Given that this fiscal earnings are less than $1, $10.42 is too large a jump to be a correct number. Could some one give me earnings projections. Also please let me know of any other factor that might affect earning projection drastically in the coming months.

Thanks
Ramesh

Uncle Frank, p62 of the revised field manual states that "there is no such thing as a gorilla without a tornado". The mid 30's growth rate of GMST is more like a strong breeze than a tornado. Ergo, GMST is not a gorilla at this moment.
That isn't to say that it might not become one. If so, the growth rate must pick up considerably. This is a pre tornado company that has the requirements to be a full gorilla once it reaches the mass acceptance tornado. High stock market returns aren't a sign of gorillahood, they are a result of gorillahood..What we have now is enough for me to be an owner. regards luke
