Razor,

its really predictable in a way that the placement was done well under the present share price, a rather recurring problem it seems with VLNC placements. ironic too that Castle Creek is in turn funding the nearly broke WEBB. It was Castle Creek who just finished selling off the VLNC stake they picked up on the cheap, at least if my memory is correct.

Lots of funny private placements possible in this teetering ponzi scheme market. when all it takes is a little PR to inflate the stock price it becomes very easy for a shady or questionable or just plain weak company to find sources of capital.

I have no position in VLNC, luckily having closed out that short even. But i have been paying attention to another fraud in action with BTWS. The pump shop and the PR firm (I believe) took down a placement of shares only a couple of months back that worked out to about 4 shares for 3.75. Unless they were dead stupid they were dumping them on Monday between 20 and 22. That's a 2000% return more or less. I don't see any credibility in the company's claims or tech. The company was about to go under and may yet do so, but now there's some more venture capital to pump into another dying enterprise. It all seems quite peculiar to me.

FWIW, I remain very suspicious of VLNC though I am taking a wait and see aproach. Bitwise looks like plain pump and dump to me so I'm sticking with that one.

BTWS seems to be cracking at the moment. there's not much support under 17 1/2 IMO.

Why would it be a good sign that they are selling stock at more than a 25% discount to the current market.

I can see it causing downward pricing pressure.
