Steven,
I agree that it can be hard to find these little diamonds in the rough, but a few clues have been mentioned numerous times on this thread.
Look for companies that have proprietary technology, patents or are leaders in there field.
Look for companies under accumulation....number of block trades, institutional activity
Look up and down the supply chain when large companies report increased sales, contracts etc....by this I mean look at the companies that supply then or provide them with services or technology.
Technical analysis is particularly valuable in determining general entry and exit points....like LPTHA which dipped yesterday to an area of support established in early Dec.

Yes, it takes patience but it is infinitely more profitable than scalping a 1/2 point on a day trade.
