Old news... Old news is all you've been talking about. Don't you think that Cisco's exposure to carriers like Sprint, GTE, USWest, Telia, etc. have provided them with the know how to succeed? Did NT succeed day one? I wonder how many growing pains they went through. Now we're about to embark on a new world of communications which will be a huge benefit to all the vendors. Yet, this new world is wrapped around data and integrated communications. I can't believe you think that Cisco will completly fail. You're a real piece of work. Yeah, I really like old world companies like NT - who make the predominant amount of their revenues on circuit switching - calling routers old world. I got a kick out of that. And an interesting strategy to cut Cisco's legs out from under them by buying BAY and then giving away thier products. Funny thing is users don't believe routing is a commodity and they know that if NT is giving away routers and routings software they can't make a buck at it and they'll be unable to support it. NT's strategy is to slow change. Customers and users don't want to slow change and this will be an issue for NT going forward. Still, NT is doing just enough but they are not doing enough to keep Cisco out of the carrier market. Cisco will succeed telecomguy because it's not a telecom world anymore - it's a datacom world and telecomguy's are going away or becoming datacom saavy.
