I have given it some thought, and on that basis, Lenin is the key figure......He established the basis for a revolutionary party, and its discipline. He refused even to share power with other left- wing parties, absorbing all into the vanguard party. He showed the way to a modern security apparatus. He made worthless treaties and got away with it. And he started the ball rolling, not only with Stalina and Mao, but establishing something for Mussolini to emulate,and a boogie man to mobilize public opinion in the Nazi regime......
