Wayne, the moral hazard created by the too big to fail policy is that eventually the problem will become too big to bail. then we see severe TL & EV. ho ho ho Mike

1998, in fact, was a case of panic by razor sharp institutional investors afraid of losing their 7 figure bonuses. J6P was buying YHOO on dips, very wisely. Panics can happen w/ and w/o any prior excess. However, a dose of coramin is advised in either case.

That the economy has almost always prospered under this Fed is something that you ignore. So, let me ask you this: what IYO would be a better monetary system and why?
