The way I look at it Xicor was on the brink of extinction and the new upcycle in the Semi's revived them. The current stock price reflects the fact that they survived into this better business climate.

They should be given credit for some technological achievements especially for their size. They were the first EEPROM vendor out with a BGA package, they produce the highest speed EEPROM's and the lowest cost XDCP. They also produced the first programmable operational amplifier. If you look at their newly released battery management chip and compare it with others you will find it technically superior (Take a look at Benchmarq which was the crown jewel of Unitrode that TI paid so much for).

I agree with Jeff that in order for Xicor to become a really big player we need to see some of these co-designs with others but Xicor has shown some technological leadership. The "smart analog" area is red hot and fertile grounds for a company like Xicor to prosper.

Nice finish today!
